Sustainable Port Development in the ASEAN Region
The project “Sustainable Port Development in the ASEAN
Region” is a three-year extension of the completed ASEAN/APA/GTZ project
entitled Dangerous Goods in ASEAN Ports.
It started in August 2009. The participating ports identified by the
APA member countries are:
· Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh in Cambodia
· Tanjung Priok and Tanjung Perak in Indonesia
· Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines
· Bangkok and Laem Chabang in Thailand
· Saigon in
Vietnam
Between October 2009 and July 2010, an Initial Status Review (ISR) of the
Safety Health and Environment (SHE) management performance at the APA
participating ports of Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Ho Chi Minh City, Sihanoukville, Phnom Penh, Tanjung
Priok and Tanjung Perak was completed.
Based on the results and recommendations of the ISRs,
the SHE officers of the ports jointly finalized their respective Work Programs
for the Period September 2010 – December 2011 in a Regional Project Planning
Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City in August 2010.
Human Resource Development
The HRD seminar
entitled “Mitigating Impacts of Climate Change”
was held in the Philippines on17-18
November 2010. The next seminar will be held in 2012.
